There’s a special place in my heart for Columbia Heights. It’s the first neighborhood where I lived in the District proper and the first place where I applied this flowchart formula to the everyday decision making that I find so difficult.
The dark, musty, basement “apartment” we lived in was honestly wretched to the point of eventual lease breaking, but it was almost (almost) worth it for the location just off of Irving and 13th NW. This put me directly adjacent to the so-called Hip Strip that lines 11th NW from Kenyon to Monroe. This area was the focus for this flow chart and is a great spot to explore in and of itself. I suggest following this flow chart to find a starting point and then hitting up a few more CoHe spots while you’re there.
